Kelechi Iheanacho says if he eventually make the Super Eagles squad to next year’s AFCON in Cameroon he qont dissapoont but to prove himself.
The Leicester City star man missed out of the 2019 AFCON held in Egypt where the Eagles finished third.
The Leicester city in form striker said, The AFCON is in January and we still have a lot of work to do. Hopefully we put things together, do our work and if I get to be there I will prove myself and do my best.”
Iheanacho, who was named Premier League Player of the Month award for March, explained why he failed to score in the qualifiers, despite his impressive form for the foxes .Arican football is not the same as European football. I help my team to play well and win. And if I didn’t score in one game I can in the next game.”
He said:Before the game there was a little bit of pressure because we needed to win or draw to qualify. But when the news came that we had already qualified it made us to be calm and helped us play our game and as you can see we dominated the game.”
On helping Leicester to a first semi-final appearance since 1982, the former Manchester City forward described it as a great feeling.
“It was a great moment and thank God for that. We are now in the semi-finals and we are going to play in Wembley. It is history so hopefully we will get to the final and possibly win the trophy.
On his present pairing with Jamie Vardy, he says, All I wish him is to be injury-free so that we keep on playing together and do great things for club.
